Today is a beautiful day (the weekend coming up is forecast to be lousy again). My wife suggested a trip to our favourite local winery (Domain de Chaberton) to have lunch in their famous Bistro, located right beside the grapes that produce some their wine, and to pick up some of that wine. We invited Derek and Airdrie come along and we all had a wonderful lunch. The food at the Bistro is French gourmet - my wife and I usually have our favourite meals there - mussels for my wife, and stuffed crepes for me. Derek and Airdrie had a great meal, too. Were happy to see Derek have such a good appetite.
Update:
If you're interested to visit the winery, here's the Google map:
Some "drop of a hat" decisions sure have enjoyable outcomes.
The best days are those we have with the least expectations. Yours sounded just wonderful, nice to hear your day was special and enjoyed by all.

Hello, Peter
ReplyDeleteThe Bacchus Bistro is located within the Domaine de Chaberton Estate Winery at 1064-216th Street, Langley, B.C. (V2Z 1R3),phone:(604)530-9694, web: www.domainedechaberton.com. Enter through the wine shop. Lunch is served from Wednesday to Sunday 11:30am-3:00pm, dinner Friday & Saturday 5:30-9:30 pm. I recommend that you make a reservation ahead of time - the place is very popular.
The winery is easy to reach after you cross the border. You can take the easterly direction on 0 Avenue, which runs along the border, to 216th Street, go about 10 kilometers (6 miles), turn left on 216th (going north). The winery is located between 8th and 16th Avenue, on the right side of 216th Street (streets run north-south, avenues east-west). Alternatively, at the first major interchange on Highway 99 after going through customs, you can turn east on 8th Ave., go as far as you can on 8th, at which point you're forced to turn south on 204th Street, and then east on 4th Ave, until you hit 216th Street. Turn left, and the winery is found just a little way along 216th, on the right side.
You could also cross the border if you go north on highway 543 (it becomes highway 15 (176th Street)at the border - then use 0th, 8th, or 16th Ave., going east, until you hit 216th Street (the winery is south of Highway 16).
Enjoy the wine and the meal.
